Our client offers a full spectrum of advisory, business and technical solutions for the enterprise management of data to address the most complex and strategic business issues in today’s marketplace.
Due to phenomenal growth and demand for products and services, our client has an immediate need for an experienced Oracle/SQL Server Database Administrator to join a team of talented and energetic technology professionals who are dedicated to delivering enterprise-level data management services. The qualified candidate will contribute to our client’s success by providing leadership and technical expertise in database administration services. The position is located in Houston, TX.
As an Oracle/SQL Server Database Administrator, you will:
• Consult and provide support in Oracle and SQL Server database administrative areas
• Work with business and technical groups to gather requirements for Oracle and SQL Server RDBMS projects
• Design relational databases and set up Oracle databases; install and configure Oracle and SQL Server databases
• Perform tuning of databases and SQL code; design backup and recovery procedures
• Travel 20-30% and be flexible to work extended hours if needed
Requirements and skills needed:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar discipline desired
• 7+ years total experience with Oracle 8I and SQL Server 2000 databases; consulting or customer service experience required
• Experience in production support, version upgrade/migration, patch application, performance tuning of an Oracle instance, application tuning using SQL TRACE and TKPROF
• Experience writing Unix shell scripts to monitor Oracle databases; ability to create physical database from logical model
• Proficiency in implementing and executing RMAN and Veritas Net Backup
• Experience with Data Modeling, PL/SQL development, UNIX or NT systems administration a plus
