•Communicate benchmark results to Engineering
•Investigate issues, create debug information as requested by Engineering, work hand-in-hand with Engineering on analysis and resolution of performance issues.
•Write reports about benchmarks;status reporting to the project team and to management
oMentoring of junior members of the team
•Improvements to the team’s tools and methods: proposals from experience, potentially implementation (mainly PERL scripting)
•“Own” performance testing responsibility for an Openwave product.
In addition to benchmark execution responsibilities listed above, candidate will:
oDetermine and negotiate future test requirements
oDetermine and define new benchmark tools needs, if any
oPlan PaC projects, including reliable prediction of required effort
oEvaluate related 3rd-party products (OS, DB, etc.), focusing on release of new versions, and making suggestions to the product team which path to follow.
oMake product improvement proposals.
•Investigate tuning parameters for Openwave product under test, as well as the 3rd-party products involved, document the findings, and participate in further discussion about these. This implies knowing/learning about those products with a focus on “performance tuning”.
•Customer Support in performance matters

| Experience | : | BS or MS degree in CS, or equivalent expierience relevant to the area. A formal CS degree can be replaced by an education in Unix system or database administration plus practical experience and increased seniority as stated below.
Formal training or hands-on experience in several of the following areas required: general Unix system or database administration, storage and file system management, programming languages (Perl, Java, C++, C, Shell)
Knowledgeable about several of the following areas: Unix internals (processes and threads, virtual memory, file systems, volume managers, networking, resource monitoring, tuning), databases (performance monitoring and tuning, SQL), benchmarking methods, scalable application design.
3-5 years of experience in Software Engineering, or 6 or more years of OS or database administration experience, which included performance measurement and tuning.
Understands the dimensions of system resource utilization, as well as OS or DB internals at a high level to make educated assessments on cause/effect relationships. Can make recommendations on effective use of the OS or DB API, as well as on scalability and performance aspects of software design.
Abiltity to identify problems, raise issues and propose potential solutions.
Ability to initiate technical discussions, and contribute verbally and electronically (email).
Ability to write technical documentation (test plans, benchmark reports, user guides for tools and procedures) given a template and minimal instructions.
Works well with peers, open to constructive criticism, desire to learn and improve self-skills. Works horizontally across teams as well as vertically within the team.
Good organizational, planning and note-taking skills.
Ability to follow instructions, and demonstrating good judgement to independently expand upon them as necessary.
